One of my favorite places to hike when the  tourist season is at its height in the Redwoods….People go to Crescent City to see the Redwoods and miss this gem…probably shouldn’t even post about it…in August I can hike here for five hours and not see a single person….HEAVEN!!!

SCHOONER RIGGING

I was checking out of a  hotel in Crescent City, California when the owner told me I should go to the harbor to see the schooner that had sought shelter during rough seas…they were letting people interested go on board while they did repairs and readied their ship for sailing again….unfortunately I have developed a deathly fear of water and I have only braved a few minutes on the harbor once previously. Of course I regret not going on board but the embarrassment of  working on my ridiculous phobias in front of the well seasoned crew was too much….I did go about 15 feet onto the dock but not without hyper-ventilating and tears in my eyes!
